5 Day Zanzibar Family Holiday Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Zanzibar → Stone Town
Arrive in Zanzibar and meet your Tanzania Miracle Adventures representative.
You will be transferred to your hotel in Stone Town.
For the first day, there is no scheduled sightseeing.
After travelling, the priority is simply to check in, settle into your room and let everyone relax.
Depending on your arrival time, you can enjoy the hotel facilities or take a short walk around the nearby area.

Day 2: Nakupenda Beach → Prison Island → Forodhani Gardens
After breakfast, begin your first full day in Zanzibar with a boat trip toward Nakupenda.
The day is centred around the Indian Ocean, with time to enjoy the beach, swim and relax before continuing to Prison Island.
Prison Island, also known as Changuu Island, is located off Stone Town and is one of the island’s established visitor attractions.
After returning to Stone Town, the family can rest at the hotel before heading out again in the evening.
End the day at Forodhani Gardens, the historic waterfront area of Stone Town that becomes particularly active in the evening.

Day 3: Spice Farm → Mtende Beach → Salam Cave
Today takes you away from Stone Town and into some of the less urban parts of Zanzibar.
Begin with a visit to a spice farm.
Zanzibar’s spice heritage is an important part of its tourism identity, and a spice farm gives the family an opportunity to see and learn about plants rather than simply buying spices in a shop. Zanzibar’s tourism authorities also highlight spice farms alongside Stone Town and coastal experiences as key parts of the island’s visitor offering.
Continue toward the southern part of the island for Mtende Beach.
This gives the family a different coastal experience from Nakupenda, with its own landscape and atmosphere.
Later, visit Salam Cave, where the family can experience another side of Zanzibar’s natural environment.
After the day’s activities, return to Stone Town.

Day 4: Relaxation → Stone Town → Souvenir Shopping
After several days of exploring, today is intentionally slower.
Enjoy a relaxed morning at the hotel.
There is no need to start early or move straight into another full-day excursion.
Later, spend time exploring Stone Town at a comfortable family pace.
Stone Town’s narrow streets, historic buildings and mixture of architectural influences are part of what makes the area distinctive. UNESCO describes it as an important Swahili trading town shaped by centuries of interaction between Africa and the wider Indian Ocean world.
The afternoon can be used for souvenir shopping.
Depending on what the family enjoys, you can look for spices, locally made crafts, textiles, artwork and other Zanzibar products.
Return to the hotel afterwards for your final evening.

Day 5: Departure
Depending on your departure time, you may enjoy your final morning in Zanzibar before your transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
